the funny thing abt...
the hoo haa thingy was dat all these debates occured in cyberspace, between emails, n within 2 hrs! ahaks! i just couldnt believe dis kind of thing could happen. i mean, in the 4th match, we fielded in a sufficient number of 11 players, without any reserves. in other words, if any of us were to be injured, we could potentially be playing wif less than the maximum number of players! n we DIDNT complain... n some teams dat played wif even less than 11 men oso DIDNT complain when they lost. n dis same opponent dat we met in the finals, during our first of the four matches before the finals, we lost to them by a 1-5 margin, we oso DIDNT complain! haiz haiz...
on a brighter note, the 4 games dat i played brought out the potential in me, in terms of playing in the field. by pushing me to play the striking role, especially in the 4th game where i got to play full time, it made me realise dat i could play the feeder role, n i could use my speed and agility to my advantage to dribble past defenders although i may not have the flowery skills like dat of Christiano Ronaldo or Ryan Giggs. one thing for sure, i have to train on my confidence when faced wif goalkeepers one on one. i need more exposure n practice in shooting from a distance to score. the scoreline on the 4th game would have been different n on our side if i would have taken my chance to shoot wif confidence, given the uncountable number of instances i was one on one wif the keeper! im sure to be looking forward to playing in the field in dat fav left midfield position the next time id be given a chance. finally i can live my dream to follow the old Ryan Giggs's footsteps, not the current sloppy n slower Giggs, who likes to cry foul whenever he is tackled or blocked from making his usual thrilling runs. age has finally caught up wif him i guess :)
id like to take dis opportunity to show my deepest appreciation to Prof Tay Eng Guan, my maths tutor, my mentor, my role model, n most importantly, my friend. if he were not to have invited me to play alongside the rest of the guys, i may not have discovered my potential.
n oh ya, by the way, our opponent came from one of the engineering schools in NTU, but definitely not from my ex-engineering schools! dats y they cant mould the future! *wink*
